A DENTIST who practises in Worcestershire has been suspended for 12 months after he entered into a smear campaign against a fellow professional.
Ikhlaq Hussain was found guilty of serious professional misconduct after he threatened Lutz Reinhardt and set about ruining his reputation after he refused to sign a partnership contract.
Hussain admitted 19 out of 35 charges when he came before the General Dental Council, which included going to Mr Reinhardt's home and displaying rude and threatening behaviour.
Only on one charge, that of intercepting letters from the primary care trust to associates, was Hussain found not guilty. All of the charges relate to incidents in Warwickshire, but Hussain is contracted by the National Health Service to operate at Droitwich Spa Dental Practice.
It is not the first time the practice in Blackfriars Avenue, Droitwich, has been linked to scandal. In 2004, former dentist and owner Jaspal Singh Bachada was suspended for six months after he was found guilty of charging for unnecessary work and billing for treatment never carried out on six patients in Birmingham.
Nobody at Drotwich surgery was available for comment.
