VOLUNTEERS from BT joined pupils at a Worcester school in a day of workshops and presentations highlighting the need to protect the environment.
Children at St Joseph's RC Junior School in Chedworth Drive planted a tree with help from Coun John Buckley and the volunteers as a symbol of the school's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
The activity day was led by BT Volunteers, an initiative to support the communication skills element of the BT Better World Campaign. The volunteers work with young people in schools and youth groups, primarily helping to improve their speaking and listening skills.
Christopher Spruce, BT Volunteers Club leader for Worcestershire, said: "We have 10 volunteers working with children in local schools. The event at St Joseph's involved all-day workshops and presentations, DVDs and games. The event concluded with a tree planting ceremony by Coun John Buckley.
