A DJ knocked over a pedestrian while trying to reverse out of a parking space at the Cross, Worcester.

Dain Traylor, of Otley Close, Tolladine, Worcester, was driving a Vauxhall Vectra out of a space in October last year when he hit a woman and narrowly missed her children.

The 23-year-old, who plays music at pubs and clubs, admitted careless driving at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Philip Worrall, prosecuting, said: "At 1.41pm on Sunday, October 15, last year officers were called to the Cross after a report a female had been hit.

"Officers arrived and spoke to the lady, who was very upset and left in a taxi.

"Mr Traylor was reversing out of a parking space and hit her, narrowly missing her two children.

"Mr Traylor did get out of the car and go to her aid, and other people came to help before she left the scene.

"She had a twisted ankle but no serious injuries, thankfully, although she still has flashbacks and is very traumatised by what happened."

Traylor pleaded guilty to careless driving. Magistrates watched CCTV footage of the incident before deciding on the punishment.

Mark Turnbull, in mitigation, said: "Mr Traylor did stop to identify himself, and admitted it was his fault. He had been reversing, looked in his mirrors and saw a child, and in avoiding the child didn't realise there were others there too.

"He said to the police, maybe I could have used my mirrors more'."

Magistrates endorsed his licence with four penalty points and fined him £150.
