FANS of a cult band may be demanding a comeback, but proud parents Liz and Stan Wood have other responsibilities.

Following the launch of an internet campaign to reform Evesham band Bang Bang Machine, the former members, who married two years ago, have a new star in the family - baby Kristian.

Former Worcester News reporter Liz said she was touched fans had posted a petition on YouTube, calling for the group to reform.

"I feel really, really flattered that it's made such an impression on people and that they actually want us to reform," said the new mum, of Evesham's Cambria Road. At the moment, reforming Bang Bang Machine is probably not top of the agenda.

"As far as I'm concerned, Kristian is developing his own set of lungs and will probably be forming his own band pretty soon.

"I would rather have Kristian as my one little fan than play in front of hundreds of people."

Bang Bang Machine formed in 1991 and released eight singles and two albums in five years.

The late Radio One DJ John Peel selected their first single, Geek Love, as number one in his festive 50 in 1992. He once said of them: "Even if they never made another record, they will have achieved more than most of us do in a lifetime."

Mrs Wood said her years singing with the group were special. "We appeared on TV shows and had fabulous way out fans in the UK and across Europe - it was a really fantastic time," she said.

Meanwhile, Liz said she and Kristian, who was born on Sunday, May 20, will be concentrating on supporting her husband with his new group Psychowrath, who will be performing at Evesham Working Men's Club on Saturday, June 16, in aid of the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust Fund.

"We are touring later in the year and looking to get another record out," he said. However, he has not ruled out a Bang, Bang Machine reunion.

"If the timing was right and everyone was available, it would be great to do a couple of one-offs," he said.
