A SILVER surfers day to train older people to surf the web, send and receive pictures and send e-mails has been dubbed a resounding success.
About 15 people turned up at the Age Concern building in Sansome Street, Worcester, to learn about the internet.
Volunteers, all of whom enjoyed careers in IT, were on hand to show each one what computers can offer.
The two-hour event, which was free and open to anyone over 50, showed people what the online world can do to enrich their lives.
Activity officer Sally Everton said: "The day went really well and we thought it made a massive difference to people to see what computers can offer them.
"Many older people watch TV and say, it keeps referring to this website', and find because they don't go online they can't access certain information."
Anyone interested in going to silver surfers events in the future or finding out about the charity's outreach programme is asked to ring Age Concern direct and book a computer taster session on 01905 726652.
