Keep a sheet of horticultural fleece or even some newspaper to cover vulnerable plants at night if temperatures look set to drop substantially.Use a hoe to keep down weeds as they germinate, giving them less opportunity to set seeds.
Continue to water recently planted trees and shrubs on a weekly basis.
Remove blanket weed and duckweed regularly from ponds so that they don't take over.
Feed fish once a day.
Prune pyracanthas which are trained against a wall by cutting out shoots growing directly into or away from it. Shorten the others to around 8cm (3in).Prune early-flowering shrubs such as Kerria japonica and Spiraea Arguta'.Tie in the shoots of vigorous climbers such as clematis, roses and vines on a regular basis.
