Brighten up a shady spot 1. Paint your walls white to reflect light, even if it receives no direct sun at all.
2. Use white or bright-coloured pots to brighten a shady patio. Glazed terracotta is easy to keep clean.3. If a tree is shading the spot, lift the canopy of the tree by cutting out some lower branches to allow light through. Removing lower branches may allow any underplanted perennials to receive enough light to flower.
