This easy-to-grow evergreen shrub is at its peak in May, producing a main flush of pretty white, wonderfully fragrant starry flowers. It looks good in any shrub border and can reach 2m or more if not kept in check. However, you can prune it in spring to keep it neat, as new shoots come back quickly. It is slightly frost sensitive, so if you live in a cold area plant it against a wall or in a fairly sheltered place to keep it happy. It will thrive in any reasonable soil in sun or light shade.
