EMPLOYEES at Worcestershire delivery firm have helped raise cash to feed and educate 1,200 malnourished children in Tanzania.
Fund-raisers at the TNT depot at Hartlebury Trading Estate, near Stourport, held a range of activities to raise money for the United Nations World Food Programme.
Thousands of TNT workers across the UK raised £30,000 for the School Feeding Programme, which encourages children in developing countries to attend school and receive a free nourishing meal.
Adrian Avery, Worcester depot general manager, said: "It costs just 7p a day (or £25 a year) to feed and educate a child in Tanzania. The initiative is part of an ongoing partnership that has already seen TNT in the UK generate more than £260,000 to support the excellent work undertaken by the programme."
More than 50 TNT Express Services depots and offices combined their efforts in a week of fund-raising activities such as fancy dress days, chest waxings, depot beauty salons, health checks, running and rowing challenges, cake baking, noodle-eating, auctions, raffles and car valeting.
