YOUNGSTERS at a Worcester school designed a boat for a gingerbread man and a tower to save Rapunzel as part of a special science day.
Cherry Orchard First School in Pershore combined science with children's stories as a fun way for children to learn.
Every pupil in the school got involved in the event.
"It was a huge success," said science co-ordinator Caroline Orban. "It was encouraging to see children developing confidence skills in an entertaining context."
Pupils were put into mixed aged groups and were able to choose a children's story.
They then were challenged with making a scientific object to fit the story.
Mrs Orban said: "One group made a boat for the gingerbread man to get away in and another made a tower to save Rapunzel.
It was really fantastic to see them all working together and coming up with these clever ideas."
