A BRAVE supermarket superviser is recovering after undergoing a full chest wax in the name of charity.

Peter Pickard, who works at Co-op in Henwick Road, St John's, Worcester, said it took more than 45 minutes to complete the job.

But the pain was worth it as he raised £200 for the Children's Society - the Co-op's charity of the year.

The 22-year-old, who has just graduated from the University of Worcester with a business management degree, said his boss was the one who suggested he go through with the wax after spotting he had a rather hairy chest.

"I am very red to say the least, but in high spirits," he said. "I think I'm going to be recovering for at least a couple of days."

The Children's Society is a national charity that helps 50,000 children and families each year. It helps the most vulnerable children, such as those in trouble with the law, victims of abuse, youngsters with disabilities and refugees.

Local branches of the Co-op have organised events throughout the year.
