A WOMAN in her 90s who had never used a computer in her life is learning to master the internet and e-mail her friends, thanks to having completed a silver surfers' course.
Residents at Hastings Care Home in Barnards Green Road, Malvern, showed that no one is too old to learn something new as they surfed the internet and kept in touch with friends via e-mail.
Ray Davies, aged 95, said: "This is the first time I have used a computer. It is really interesting and I look forward to learning more."
Many had been brushing up on their computer skills in preparation for Silver Surfers' Day, which was held on Friday, May 25.
The event is the biggest annual computer literacy campaign in the UK and was held as part of Adult Learners' Week, organised to encourage older people to learn how to use computers and the internet.
Home manager Jo Phelps said: "We encourage residents to use the internet as a way of staying in touch with friends and relatives and keeping up with events in the local community and the world outside."
