Drivers can get their vehicles hosed down and help good causes at the same time with a firefighters' charity car wash this weekend.

Kidderminster Fire Station's White Watch off-duty and retained fire crew members will be scrubbing people's cars to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund on Saturday.

David Williams, station manager, said: "Cars and car washers are welcome if they just want to turn up on the day and there's no charge. People will be asked to donate what they feel is appropriate."

The Castle Road car wash is raising money for the fire service's fund, which looks after crews and families of firefighters who have lost their lives.

The event also benefits Macmillan in Wyre Forest and Worcestershire, with donations helping the national charity provide more services aiding people coping with cancer and its side effects.

Car washing begins at 10am, with three more events planned to raise money for other charities on July 7, July 28 and August 18.
