A WORCESTERSHIRE teen-ager had to be put in an arm- lock and forced to the ground by police as he swore at them and thrashed his arms.

Gary Wookey had to be forcibly restrained by a policeman as he struggled after officers were called to a disturbance in Westcroft Court, Droitwich.

Wookey, aged 18, admitted resisting arrest and being in possession of a bladed weapon - a Stanley knife pendant - which he wore around his neck, at Worcester Magis-trates Court on Wednesday.

The court was told how police were called out at 12.15am on February 17 after reports that Wookey, of Park Way, Droitwich, was shouting and banging on a door.

Sally Hill, prosecuting, said: "He was abusive right from the outset, swearing at officers. He continued to shout while officers tried to reason with him.

"At the station he said he had no reason for possessing the knife but simply wore it around his neck. He said he resisted because the police were too rough."

Wookey was told he had to do 60 hours of unpaid work within a year and was ordered to pay £70 costs.
