MALVERN Town Council has revised its committee structure to make it even more efficient and cost- effective in the coming year.

The council reduced its precept each year in the past four years by making better use of its resources and plans to continue that success during the next period of administration.

The newly elected members of the council have decided to slim down the number of committees from five to three.

The previous four working parties have been dissolved and there are now just two council working parties - North Site working party and Malvern Hospital working party.

Town clerk Richard Chapman said: "The councillors want to streamline the running of the council. They thought it would be more businesslike to have three committees rather than five. Some of the work on the committees was being duplicated."

At the council's annual meeting last week the members elected Council-lor Mike Selby as chairman for a second term, Coun Paul Tuthill as chairman of the finance and administration committee and Coun Adrian Ward as vice- chairman. Coun John Wilcox was made chairman of the operations committee.
