VOLUNTEERS from a Worcestershire charity are celebrating after completing their training.

Home-Start Worcester and Wychavon, a family support charity, were presented with certificates to mark the end of the 10-week course.

The volunteers had responded to an appeal for help in the Worcester News and were given the awards by Richard Hubbard, director of children's services for Worcestershire County Council.

Home-Start manager Margaret Jones said: "The volunteers are now ready to offer support, friendship and practical help to a family after spending time building on their own parenting skills and increasing their knowledge of local services.

"It was an excellent opportunity for Richard to meet the volunteers and he was able to reinforce the excellent work and the valuable contribution volunteers make in their local community."

The charity is still looking to recruit more helpers and is urging parents or grand-parents who can offer three to four hours a week to help support a local family to get in touch. New training courses will be run in Worcester and Evesham in September. For more information ring 01905 29377.
