THE vandals who smashed phone boxes in a Worcestershire town have been criticised.
Newly-elected Droitwich town councillor Neil Perry wants a recent spate of vandalism highlighted.
He claims that such actions could harm young children and lead to the phone boxes being taken away.
Phoneboxes in Worcester Road, Droitwich, were first vandalised last week. Councillor Perry called BT to have the glass replaced.
However, phone boxes have again been damaged near the Total garage and outside the store opposite The Oaklands off Worcester Road.
Coun Perry said: "I want to make parents aware of this because the broken glass is a danger to young children.
"The phone boxes are located near first and nursery schools and I fear that mums with pushchairs may walk by. Young children reach for things. I hate to think what would happen if a child put their arm towards the broken glass. The people who do this also need to be aware of the danger it causes as well.
"I have called BT again and the police and hopefully the glass will again be replaced.
"These actions could also cause the privilege of the phone box to be lost."
