ARTWORK from students across Worcestershire has been unveiled at a special exhibition.

Worcestershire County Council's arts education service has organised the visual arts exhibition, which will run until July 4 in the cloisters of Worcester Cathedral.

Canon David Stanton and council chairman Councillor John Smith opened the exhibition, which was organised as part of the council's annual Voices and Visions festival of visual and performing arts.

Schools throughout the county have contributed to the exhibition, which features individual and collaborative art and design projects created by students aged between four and 18.

Techniques on show range from digital media to sculpture, graphics and painting.

Work produced as part of an on-going programme aimed at giving pupils the chance to work with county artists will be a key aspect of this year's exhibition.

A spokesman for the council said: "The success of arts in the county reflects the fact that more of Worcestershire's schools have achieved the Artsmark award - a national award for excellence in arts provision, than any other local authority in the Midlands."

The Visual Arts Exhibition is open to members of the public during normal cathedral hours. Admission is free.
