DAVID Wright is an another rare citizen of Worcester who has given extra-ordinary time and energy to a variety of causes for the benefit of fellow citizens and who has adopted Worcester as his home town with a dedication that few can follow.

He has not only founded a law firm that carries his name and developed the practice to its respected status and served as an activist in local politics but sat as a city councillor for many years.

He gave time to a most worthy and needed charity as the chairman of the Iris House Trust - for paroled prisoners billeted in the city - and has been committed to the local arts scene as the secretary of the Worcester Three Choirs Festival, chairman of the Worcester Arts Council, Worcester Cathedral Arts and the Swan Theatre.

While he has performed in so many arenas of activity, he has always devoted much of his spare time to music and the arts but, he says, "never as a performer".

The statistics show his efforts have brought thousands to attend plays and concerts in Worcester over his many years of involvement and his role as the Festival Co-ordinator of the 150th Elgar Birthday Festival demonstrates his continuing enthusiasm for the cause of music in the city which hopefully will prevail for years to come.
