WOMEN across the two counties are preparing to don their finest outfits for Hereford Racecourse's most popular fixture of the year.

It's ladies' day on Sunday, June 3, and hundreds of women are now in the process of selecting their posh frocks and best hats.

There's every incentive for local women to choose their dresses from department store Chadds of Hereford because those who book their tickets in advance receive a £10 discount when spending £50 or more in the fashions or accessories departments.

An action packed day is expected at the races, which includes the £15,000 K W Bell Construction Handicap Hurdle.

After the racing has finished, tribute band Counterfeit Abba will be playing on the Pimms Lawn.

The popularity of the event is such that special £35 packages sold out weeks in advance, but there are still plenty of general admission tickets available at £16 each.

The attractions also include a penalty shoot-out with Westfields Football Club, music during the afternoon from a jazz band, best dressed lady and best hat competitions, and free entertainment - and admission - for children.

Katie Stephens, general manager of Hereford Racecourse, said: "Regular visitors to Hereford Racecourse don't need to be told what a great occasion our annual ladies' day is, but for those people who have not been racing before, it's a wonderful introduction to the sport."

Admission tickets can be bought by calling the racecourse on 01432 273560.
