THE tale of a magical flying car is being brought to life in a full-costume production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The play was put on by 50 children from Perry Wood School, St Albans Close, Ronkswood, Worcester.

Many more children helped by creating costumes and props for the adapted version of the lavish production.

The play will be staged for the first time today at 1.30pm in front of special guests from the community, including shopkeepers and people who live nearby.

Evening performances will follow at 6pm on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Lisa Guest, one of many teachers who co-ordinated the production, said: "We have been rehearsing for months. The children have worked really hard. The whole school has pulled together to do props and costumes."

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a children's novel written by James Bond author Ian Fleming for his son about a car that magically comes to life.

Tickets are still available from the school on 01905 354800.
