A MAN has suffered serious burns following a gas bottle explosion.
The 50-year-old was on the premises of Cellargas in Chapel Road, Rotherwas, near Hereford when the explosion happened at 2.45pm yesterday.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said "When the ambulance service staff arrived on the scene, eight minutes after the 999 call, they found a man who had suffered severe burns to his right leg, abdominal and groin area from an exploding gas bottle.
"The patient's burns were treated at the scene where he was also given pain relief by the crew.
"He was then immobilised and transferred to the County Air Ambulance that had landed nearby."
The man was airlifted to the specialist burns unit at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.
It is not known whether he was an employee.
