A DROITWICH opticians is appealing to residents to spread some Christmas cheer by making a donation to the Droitwich Spa Foodbank.

The team at Specsavers on St Andrews Square is welcoming donations of non-perishable Christmas treats, including mince pies, selection boxes, tinned ham and toiletries, which they will then donate to the Foodbank.

The collection will run until Saturday, December 19, in order for donations to be handed out to those in need before Christmas.

Emma Singh, director at Droitwich Specsavers, said: "The Droitwich Spa Foodbank is amazing, it’s a great cause that supports local people.

"We appeal to our customers and passers-by to maybe pick up an extra item with their shopping, so that those facing a tough Christmas this year will benefit from their generosity."

Other products that have been requested to help those in need include breakfast cereals, long-life milk and orange juice, tinned vegetables and pet food.

The full list of products can be downloaded at the Foodbank's website droitwichspa.foodbank.org.uk

The foodbank provides emergency food parcels for those in crisis and is operated by the Trussell Trust. It is run in partnership with Droitwich Churches Together.

Drop off you donations at the store at 10 St Andrews Square, Droitwich, during the shop's opening hours of 9am to 5.30pm.
