A CLASSICAL music performance is being held in Pershore for people living with dementia.

The performance from members of Stratford's Orchestra of the Swan is part of Wychavon District Council’s continuing series of music workshops.

It will take place at the Number 8 Arts Centre in High Street, Pershore, on Wednesday, December 16, starting at 1.30pm and finishing around 3pm.

A variety of music genres will be represented at the workshop including Samba, classical and modern day chart classics.

Jenny Davis, arts development officer at Wychavon, said: “Anyone attending is bound to have an enjoyable time.

"I’m delighted that all of our musicians have committed to such an entertaining programme throughout this year and that they will continue all the way into 2016.

"The feedback we’ve been receiving shows that the workshops have a very positive impact on people by reducing isolation, getting them involved and helping them to make new friends.”

Workshops are also being held on January 20 with a Samba workshop, on February 24 with singer Deborah Rose and guitarist Remi Harris and on March 23 with a performance from Orchestra of the Swan.

It costs £2 to attend each workshop, which includes a hot drink and a biscuit.
