FILM fans in Worcestershire will be spoilt or choice when it comes to finding a cinema for the screening of the latest Star Wars adventure, "The Force Awakens".

But with a number of screenings planned to begin just a minute or so after midnight on the big launch day, December 17, it could be a case of "some of the audience nods off", despite the high-octane plot.

Unless, of course, Worcestershire's Jedi and Wookiees are wide-eyed with sheer excitement, despite the lateness of the hour.

In Worcester, the Odeon on Foregate Street will be showing both a 3D and and 2D version of the movie at one minute past midnight on Thursday, December 17.

The Vue at Worcester, in Friar Street, will also screen in 3D and 2D, at one minute past midnight on December 17.

Further afield, The Empire at Birmingham Great Park will screen in 3D at five minutes past midnight, on Thursday, December 17.

The Regal Cinema at Evesham will screen "The Force Awakens" at 10am and 1pm, on December 17.

Malvern Theatres will also show the film on December 17, at 4.30pm and 7.45pm.

The Force Awakens is a continuation of the space saga created by George Lucas, and it and set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983).

The latest offering in the Star Wars franchise sees a new generation of heroes fighting for the freedom of the galaxy.

The Empire has fallen, but new enemies are arising.

Fresh faces Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron must unite with old warriors Luke, Han and Leia.

The Dark Side has awoken. But so has the Light.
