KINDNESS was the order of the day at a recent event at Christopher Whitehead Language College.
Staff and students took part in a day of kindness organised by charity Random Acts of Kindness.
As part of the day, the Bromwich Road school organised a tea party for the relatives of its students.
David Farmer, assistant headteacher, said: "We embraced it as a whole school and everyone was encouraged to do something kind for their family and friends.
"We asked students if they wanted to invite their older family members in for a tea party.
"We had 20 students bring in relatives for tea and cakes.
"It was a lovely afternoon.
"The students sat and chatted with their relatives for half an hour while they were served the cakes which won our bake-off competition."
Other examples of acts of kindness carried out at the school included pupils holding a collection to buy a Mosquito net for Oxfam, staff members being given pieces of chocolate and students getting up early to make breakfast for their parents.
Mr Farmer added: "It's part of the caring ethos of the school.
"We have a house system where mixed age students and a learning mentor all look after each other.
"We think it helps students learn to treat each other properly."
The day of kindness took place on Friday, November 13.
