EVER thought of having a go at target shooting? Not at a line of moving tin ducks at a fair or even a little roundel in a metal holder on the back wall of the Brewer's Droop pub just off the village green.

No, proper full-on target shooting with a full bore rifle. Well, now's your chance, because Worcester Norton Shooting Club is holding an open day on Sunday, May 27, as part of National Shooting Week.

Anyone interested is invited along to the club's headquarters at the former Norton Barracks in Brockhill Lane, Norton, about a mile south of Worcester.

"It's a great opportunity, not just to see what the sport is all about, but to actually have a go too," said the club's president, Neil Brazier.

"We cater for a wide range of shooting disciplines, from air rifles and pistols, small bore, full bore and gallery rifles, black powder pistols and rifles, clay pigeon shooting and practical shotgun.

"There will be no charge for entry on the day. Just payment for the ammunition you use. There will be hot food and drinks available to buy on site, we have a large club room and all our firing points are covered - except for shotgun shooting - so if it rains, don't let that put you off." Anyone interested is asked to contact the club via its contact e-mail link on its website www.wncs.co.uk
