MASSEY Ferguson tractor fans descended on Worcestershire in droves for a farm dispersal sale at Stoulton, between Worcester and Pershore.

The attraction was a list of no less than eight Fergies due to come under the auctioneer's hammer.

Needless to say, by the end of the day, there was not one left without a new owner They were part of a successful dispersal sale of tractors, implements and agricultural and horticultural equipment at Thorndon Grove, Windmill Hill, Stoulton.

"Despite inclement weather, with rain showers throughout the day, the huge crowd ensured all 300 lots on offer sold to a good trade," said auctioneer Daniel Lovatt, a director of Kidderminster-based Halls.

The tractors in the sale, all from the Massey Ferguson stable, were: an MF 699, which sold for £4,800; an MF 135 complete with cab and loader, £4,200; an MF 698T, £4,000; an MF 135, £3,000; an MF 35X, £2,900; an MF 135, £2,500; an MF 35X, £1,800 and an MF 35, £1,500.

"It was a rare opportunity to be able to offer so many genuine Massey Ferguson tractors for sale at one place," Mr Lovatt added.

Specialist vegetable growing items included a Lambourgini self-propelled plastic laying machine, which made £1,600, assorted diesel engine irrigation pumps, which sold up to £1,400, 90 platform barrows, sold to a high of £105 for five, two lots of balance scales, complete with weights, each realising £410, a large quantity of bean canes sold in two lots for a total of £350 and quantities of metal bean hoops made £110 per pile.

Top price in the machinery section was £3,500 for a Nissan 20 two-tonne yard forklift.
