THE manager of a Worcester pizza store has thanked the public for helping to raise £300 for ITV’s annual charity appeal Text Santa, which this year is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish UK and Save the Children.

A pizza party at Papa John’s in The Bull Ring, St John's, saw 'free' pizzas handed out to the first 100 people that came through the doors and, for a donation, guests also received an ITV Text Santa badge.

Papa John’s set a minimum donation of £3 for the pizzas with all the money going to appeal.

The store also donated 50p from all XXL pizzas sold during the festive period.

In keeping with the seasonal spirit, staff at the store donned their festive jumpers as part of the appeal’s message of asking everyone to do their “bit in a Christmas knit”.

Jitesh Patel, store manager, said: “ITV’s Christmas charity appeal, Text Santa, aims to give hope to those families facing difficult times this Christmas, so we were really proud to play our part.

"I’m also hugely grateful to our customers for their generous support and donations.”

Text Santa, which this year stars Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden and Paddy McGuinness, will be broadcast on Friday, December 18.
