THE winners of an annual Wychavon Christmas card competition have received their prizes for their fantastic festive designs.

Wychavon District Council asked residents to come up with festive designs for Councillor Val Wood, the chairman of the authority's card.

Cllr Wood invited people to paint their vision of Christmas in Wychavon and she judged the entries for the adult and junior sections with the help of Jack Hegarty, managing director of Wychavon and the council’s graphics design team.

On Thursday, December 3, at the Civic Centre in Pershore, the chosen winners received prizes for their creative and colourful designs.

The chairman presented Liz Jones, from Harvington, with £25 worth of Pershore Pride vouchers, while six-year-old Frankee Camden from Pershore was given £25 worth of WHSmith vouchers.

Both winners also received a quantity of the Christmas cards with their own design on them.

Cllr Wood said: “I would like to thank those who entered the competition.

"There were two clear winners and my congratulations go to Liz and Frankee for their thoughtful, creative and colourful designs.”

Liz Jones said: “I always make my own cards with Christmas being no exception.

"Sometimes cards represent the only contact I have with folk in a year, so I feel the personal effort is needed to maintain friendships. I doodle daily, having done so for a long time, and my subjects are usually fantastical hence the festive birds, with the chicks on top representing family.

"I’m delighted I’ve won, but I’ll try not to let it go to my head!”

Frankee added: “It’s brilliant to have won and I’m very excited to tell my friends at school.”
