A CHARITY offering support to bereaved children in the two counties needs new volunteers.

The Noah's Ark Trust, based in Lowesmoor Wharf, Worcester, relies on public support to help children, young people and families who have suffered a bereavement. The trust has been operating since 1998.

One of the services offered by the charity is residential weekends at the Malvern Hills Outdoor Centre, where bereaved young people and their families meet other people in similar situations. They are encouraged to talk about their experiences, reflect on events and look to the future.

Mary Irish, the trust's community fund-raising manager, said: "The support that Noah's Ark Trust has provided over the years has proved time and again to be invaluable to the young people and their families. There is very little help on offer by the State in these tragic situations and Noah's Ark Trust is there for any young person in the area who needs support in a time of great anguish."

More volunteers are needed to assist with the activities of the charity and people from all walks of life are encouraged to offer some of their free time.

Gabby Beddows, head of operations, said: "We need volunteers for a variety of roles, to help with fund-raising efforts, administration tasks and working with the bereavement team. We are a local community-based charity offering support across both counties and the importance of our volunteers cannot be under estimated."
