A WORCESTER DJ is using pedal power to raise money for charity.

Wyvern FM drive show presenter Paul Ellery will be one of the hundreds of participants taking part in this year's Hearts First Bike Ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Mr Ellery, from Powick, Worcester, was at the age of four diagnosed with Stills disease, a childhood condition that enlarged his heart and meant he needed support from life-saving equipment.

He was in hospital for 16 weeks and needed to have regular check-ups until he was 10 years old.

His father recently had heart keyhole surgery.

Mr Ellery, who will also be hosting the event, said: "Without the research of organisations like the BHF I might not be here today."
