PEOPLE are being encouraged to get on their bikes for charity.

Although there are only three weeks left until the charity's Hearts First Bike Ride on Sunday, June 3, there is still time to sign up and help save the lives of people living with heart disease.

The British Heart Foun-dation's fund-raising team was at the CrownGate shopping centre on Saturday, and at Worcester Racecourse on Sunday promoting the event.

Louise McCathie, BHF event organiser, said: "Coronary heart disease kills almost nine times more people than breast cancer and three times more than lung cancer - it's the UK's biggest killer. Nationwide, someone has a heart attack every two minutes and only half survive. That's why your contribution is so important.

"Please sign up for our fantastic Hearts First Bike Ride. Whether you're a regular cyclist or just starting out, there is something for everyone, young and old. So sign up now - your money will help save lives in Worcestershire."

People registering before Wednesday, May 30, will benefit from the cheaper registration fee of £10 for adults, £5 for under-16s and £20 for families. Registration can also be done on the day from 9am onwards, and costs £15 for adults, £10 under-16s and £25 for families. The event is open to people of all ages, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult and gain their parents consent on their registration form.

For more information on how to take part in the bike ride call 0800 169 3672 or e-mail on westevents@bhf.org.uk. Alternatively, register online at bhf.org.uk/worcester.

The event starts at 10am from the Worcester Race-course. There is a choice of three courses.
