A VULNERABLE man who said he was intending to harm himself was brought home safely from the Malvern Hills following an an extensive search.

The 27-year-old man went missing from his home in Malvern on Saturday at about 4pm before texting family to let them know he was intending to harm himself on the Malvern Hills.

An extensive search was undertaken by South Worcestershire Cops (the name used by police in the South Worcestershire Local Policing Area), Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service using specialist thermal imaging equipment.

At 1.40am this morning (Sunday) PC Prewer and police dog Rocco successfully located the missing man at a precarious position on the hillside above St Ann's Road.

The man was found alive, conscious and with only superficial injuries.

He was transported to an ambulance using the fire service's eight wheeler vehicles (pictured) and then taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "An excellent example of teamwork amongst our emergency services and the application of specialist skills in adverse weather conditions to get a man in crisis home safely."
