OUTDOOR lovers are being encouraged to don their winter clothes and book onto a walk to discover more about winter wildlife treasures.

Hannah Thomas, of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, is leading a walk with naturalist Garth Lowe at the charity’s Knapp and Papermill Nature Reserve in Alfrick Pound.

She said: “This is a great opportunity to forget all about the madness of Christmas and enjoy the peace and quiet of one of our most beautiful nature reserves.

“We’ll be taking a two mile walk to see what wildlife we can find as well as discussing how wildlife adapts to our coldest and darkest time of year.

“We’ll also be looking at how we manage the Knapp and Papermill for the benefit of wildlife – from coppicing to grazing.

“It’s a chance to get out for a healthy walk before Christmas and puddings take over.”

The walk will be rounded off with festive refreshments in the education centre and participants will be given the opportunity to take home some mistletoe from the orchard.

The walk will take place on Friday, December 11, at 10am.

Participation costs £7.50 including hot drinks and mince pies.
