PARISH councillors have agreed to spend almost £600 on an underground survey of the Area 51 play area in Power Park, Worcester.
Timber troubles have plagued the playground for months, with concerns over "potential rot in the bases of some timbers and a degree of movement in some timbers".
Members of St Peter's Parish Council approved spending £250 on the technical survey - a move to provide a "clear picture" of the extent of any rot - at a meeting in October.
But these cost estimations proved inaccurate and instead the council will now have to fork out £595 on the report.
Councillors approved the expenditure at a meeting on Monday (November 30).
