TWO school choirs in Worcester are urging the public to vote for their vocal skills in a national contest to star in the TV show Any Dream Will Do.

The school choir at RGS The Grange and the choir at St Clement's Primary School are competing to get in to the top 20 of the competition, with a chance to perform for Lord Lloyd-Webber.

Lord Lloyd-Webber will then select one choir to perform live on the final show of BBC 1's Any Dream Will Do and to appear in the West End for a special Children In Need performance of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Michelle Corrie, head of music at RGS The Grange, said: "They really are a beautiful choir. They won the Worcester competitive arts festival choir for eight years and under and deserve to have a chance in this contest."

The choir had to be cut down from 60 members to 20 for the show's website, where a recording was available for fans to view and vote on.

Kate Brunt, headteacher at St Clement's, added: "We need the whole community behind us to vote. The children's performance is fantastic."

The deadline for voting has been extended due to the high volume of schools getting involved and fans of the show now have until Friday, May 25, to vote online on the Any Dream Will Do website for their favourite choir.

The final 20 will be announced on Friday, May 25, with the winner announced on Tuesday, May 29.
