A NEW £175,000 village hall in Throckmorton - the result of a four-year project by villagers - is to be officially opened.
Local radio presenter Katie Johnson is cutting the ribbon at a special ceremony today infront of delighted villagers and sponsors.
The hall replaces a 95-year-old scout hut. It was funded through donations from villagers and grants from Defra, the regional development agency and Severn Waste Services.
The Worcester News reported in November how plans to open the hall were delayed when energy supplier Energy Services had not connected the electricity.
Ironically, the village had won £2,500 from Central Networks - Energy Ser-vices' sister company - to be spent on Christmas lights but following the Worcester News story, the electricity was connected and the lights were lit up around the hall, although it could not be used for functions.
