COMPLAINTS about water firm Severn Trent have increased by 36 per cent in the last year, new figures have revealed.
The Consumer Council for Water has seen record levels of complaints in the past 12 months about water companies and today re-vealed the worst offenders.
The watchdog said it had received 2,652 complaints about Severn Trent, which provides Worcestershire's water, in the year to March 31 - an annual rise of 36 per cent.
This compared with Uni-ted Utilities, where complaints rose 19 per cent to 2,325; Southern Water saw complaints increase by 52 per cent to 777 and South East Water rose 74 per cent to 441.
High charges and problems with bills have been the main gripes for customers. Dame Yve Buck-land, for the Consumer Council for Water, said it was "disappointing" that billing systems were causing so many compliants from customers.
