THE caretaker and cleaner at a Worcestershire school has put away her dusters after more than 20 years in the role.
Joan Shepherd, who is 70 years old today, has decided to call it a day at Eckington First School, near Pershore.
School spokesman Helen Chapman said: "Joan has been a brilliant member of the team - dedicated and hard working."
Mrs Shepherd, who lives in Eckington, was treated to a surprise retirement party yesterday when children performed songs in a specially set up marquee.
Mrs Chapman said: "She has been absolutely fantastic and will be very sadly missed."
Mrs Shepherd said she was looking forward to a relaxing retirement with her husband Bill, daughters Wanda and Sue and four grandchildren.
Mrs Shepherd said: "I am looking forward to having some time to myself."
