A ROYAL helicopter landed in Worcester this morning, prompting excitement from onlookers.

But the Queen, who officially opened the £750 million revamped New Street station in Birmingham today, was not on board.

Instead it was the Duke of Gloucester visiting Worcester to preside over the university graduation ceremony at Worcester Cathedral and officially open Worcester Fire Station in McKenzie Way.

The helicopter landed on playing fields off Lansdowne Road at about 11am, according to Worcester News readers, before leaving at about 12.15pm.
