A JUNIOR fishing club has reeled in a huge number of junior anglers, thanks to help from the Worcester News.
The angling group Hooked has proved so popular that its organiser Neil Sarkar is going to set up a Sunday club after the Saturday club attracted so many youngsters.
Mr Sarkar, the founder of the Midlands Fishing School, said: "The response we have had from local youngsters is great and each week their skills are building and they have caught loads of carp and tench. We now have members from all over Worcester and Malvern."
The club is now taking bookings for the summer holiday period from youth groups. Anyone who wishes to take part should contact Mr Sarkar as soon as possible before they become fully booked.
The sessions are based at Berrow Farm Fishery, Martley, just outside the city, and the club runs every Saturday throughout the year for two hours.
To join the club you don't need to have fished before and you do not even need your own tackle, as Hooked will supply everything you need.
Mr Sarkar, aged 37, from Martley, near Worcester, passed his joint angling governing bodies level 2 coaching course in 2002.
We reported last month how Mr Sarkar said he wanted youngsters to ditch computer and video games to sample the magic of the great outdoors in his battle against what he called the "PlayStation culture" of modern Britain.
The club is aimed at youngsters between the ages of eight and 15.
