THE next mayor of Droitwich and the responsibilities of councillors will be decided at a meeting of Droitwich's new town council on Monday.
The meeting, due to start at 7pm, will decide who will take over from outgoing mayor Jan Bolton as well as who will head up committees such as planning or community and amenities.
The local elections on Thursday, May 3, saw Conservative councillors strengthen their grip on the town. There are now 13 Conservatives on the council, along with three Labour councillors and two Liberal Democrats.
This year, in Central ward, Lib Dems Graham Gopsill and Ian Wild were elected, while in Chawson ward Labour party members John Cook and Christopher Barton won seats.
However, the Conservatives triumphed in Droitwich's Copcut ward with Richard Morris and Claude Sarfo elected, and Droitwich East also saw Tories Mike Barratt, Jan Bolton, Lynne Duffy and Glenise Noyes win seats.
Conservatives Don Lawley and Elizabeth Anne Taft were successful in the town's Tagwell ward while Droitwich West welcomed Conservatives John Brackston, Laurence Evans and Robert Harrison, along with Labour party member Roy Seabourne.
The Spa's Witton ward completed the Conservatives' victory with Tories Maureen Lawley and Neil Perry winning seats.
Anyone is welcome at the meeting, which will be held at the the Council Chamber, St Richard's House, Victoria Square, Droitwich, at 7pm.
