THE summer reunion and annual meeting of Worcester Grammar School for Girls Old Girls' Association was held at the University Conference Centre, Oldbury Road, on Saturday, April 28.
After an excellent buffet lunch the meeting was opened by the chairman, Glennis Noke and president, Diana Chester.
Following the usual business formalities, the Centennial Celebration in October 2008 was discussed.
This will take the form of a service in the cathedral followed by tea in the Chapter House. Members of the association will play a prominent part in the Service.
All Old Girls, whether members of the association or not, are invited to attend. Details will be published at a later date in the local press and radio, and on the OGA website.
The chairman then gave a warm welcome to the speaker, Cynthia Crawford, who has been personal assistant to former prime minister Baroness Thatcher for 29 years.
Mrs Crawford gave a fascinating talk, full of anecdotes of life in Downing Street and when travelling with the Prime Minister. She gave examples of the caring side of Lady Thatcher's nature.
A vote of thanks, proposed by Noreen Maylett, was endorsed by all present. The meeting ended with tea and cakes. BERYL OSBORNE
