TWO dogs attacked and killed a cat in front its horrified owner.
Two dogs - described as Staffordshire Bull Terriers - entered the front garden of a house in Alexandra Avenue, College Estate, Hereford, and attacked and killed the 14-year-old cat.
The two dogs - one dark brown, one white or cream - then ran off towards the shops on College Green.
The incident happened just before 7am on Thursday, May 10.
About 50 minutes later they were seen close to the Nuffield Hospital on Venn's Lane by a passer by. One dog was covered in blood.
Police searched of the area to try to find the dogs but without success.
Police have since received a second report of a different cat being attacked and injured in Kingsway at about the same time.
It is believed that the same dogs are likely to have been responsible.
A police spokesman said: "Both dogs were said to be wearing collars so it is likely that they may be the pets of someone living locally.
"We have had no further reports of cats or other animals being attacked in the area since yesterday, so it also seems likely that these animals may have returned home.
"Their owner may be unaware of what has happened, but it is important we find them as it is quite clear that the dogs could pose a danger again."
Anyone with information or further sightings of the dogs is asked to contact PC Ann-Marie Rosier at Hereford police station on 08457 444888.
