CHILDREN at a nursery group in Worcester are celebrating a cash grant that will help buy them outdoor play equipment.
The Tudor Way Children's Centre has been awarded £400 from the Make a Difference campaign that will be used to buy bats and balls and ensure the older children will be kept entertained during the summer.
Staff at the centre in Tudor Way, Dines Green, St John's, said the money - which is courtesy of Worcester Round Table volunteers in conjunction with the Worcester News - will mean the group can extend the services it offers.
Manager Kirsty Chambers said: "We are trying to set up before and after school clubs but we don't have the equipment for the older children. This money means we will be able to get equipment for them so they don't get bored."
Mrs Chambers said about 41 children aged between four and eight from different backgrounds currently use the centre, but the money could mean more will join.
"We are a lot like any other nursery," she said. "We have got a nice outdoor area and we do wet play and sand play - all the normal nursery things.
"We have got a couple of older children who have already started, and because of this money, they are going to have the extra things to do that they didn't have before."
Mrs Chambers said the centre, which has about 10 members of staff, also runs family play groups while another group has just been set up for dads to play with their children and meet other parents. The centre, which is partly funded by the Government, is open Monday to Friday and in the school holidays.
