THE Mayor of Worcester will wrap up his year in office by hosting the visit of some city students due at the Guildhall tomorrow.
Councillor Ian Imray will meet a group of youngsters from Red Hill CE Primary School, who are due to visit the council chamber.
The students will get to meet the mayor beforehand to take a tour of the historic building from 1.30pm.
It will be the last duty Coun Imray undertakes before he returns to the Guildhall at 7pm for the full council meeting to hand over the chains.
Coun Imray said: "It's been a wonderful year being Mayor of Worcester, and it will feel a little strange when I step down on Tuesday.
"You don't quite realise when you become the mayor how much work is involved in representing this city.
"It's been such a big part of my life.
"The best aspect of the role is meeting children when I am on engagements, because they are our future. I like to see young people enjoying themselves."
The new mayor of Worcester will be announced on Tuesday night, with former leader of the city council Coun Stephen Inman widely expected to get the role.
