TWO teenagers who are obsessed with the boy band McFly have been braving the weather to meet their heroes.

Kayla Ball has been to see the band play live more than 20 times, she has met them on 10 different occasions and even starred in one of their music videos.

Last week, Miss Ball and her friend Ali Shotton camped out in Milton Keynes and in Birmingham for the chance to meet the band members at two signing events.

"People think I'm mad," said Miss Ball, of Glenthorne Avenue, Brickfields, Worcester. "I've liked them ever since I saw them support the band Busted.

"They weren't at all stuck up and they came outside to meet people."

On Friday, April 27, the friends - both students, who met at a McFly signing - camped outside the Birmingham NEC box office for 24 hours in the hope of getting good seats to one of McFly's forthcoming gigs. Eventually they were a little disappointed to only get seats in the 12th row, but they're still looking forward to the concert.

"The first time I camped out to see them we went up to Manchester," said Miss Ball, aged 17. We slept outside HMV because they were doing a performance and a signing but only 500 people were allowed in. I was eighth in the queue."

On Tuesday, May 8, Miss Ball and Miss Shotton, from Astley, near Stourport-on-Severn, caught a train to Milton Keynes to camp out for a signing. On Wednesday they caught another train to Birming-ham to do the same.

Miss Shotton, who is also 17, said: "I've only just started doing it because my friends don't like them that much.

"It's weird because you think you only need to meet them once, but as soon as you have you want to do it again.

"You always want to get to know the band members a little bit better."

Miss Ball was an extra in the band's Friday Night video after winning a website competition.
