FAMILIES with deaf children from across the West Midlands will gather in Stourport this weekend.
The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) is holding the event at Menzies Stourport Manor on Saturday and Sunday.
It brings together families who have recently found out they have a child who is deaf, giving them the chance to find out what support is available locally and nationally.
Experienced NDCS staff, some of whom are parents of deaf children, will provide insights into the issue.
The NDCS is the only UK charity solely dedicated to helping deaf children and their families. Sean Moran, NDCS director of UK services, said: "The family weekend enables parents to access a structured support programme, providing clear information about childhood deafness and an opportunity to ask questions in a safe, positive and accepting environment. It gives parents the opportunity to discuss issues such as communication and education."
And while parents are involved in the weekend's workshops, their deaf children and siblings will be able to take part in a range of activities led by specially trained childminders.
