A 24-year-old man has been convicted after a jury was told how police laun-ched Operation Cleopatra to crack down on the supply of heroin in Droitwich and Bromsgrove.
Jason Priest will be sentenced in two months' time along with 27 other defendants, Worcester Crown Court was told. Priest, of Charland Court, Droitwich, was found guilty of being involved in the supply of heroin.
He was caught after undercover police from another force were drafted into the area last year to pose as drug customers and collect evidence.
Two officers went to a flat in Charland Court on October 12, occupied by drug dealer Andrew Os-bourne, said Paul Whitfield, prosecuting.
Priest answered the door, asked them how many heroin wraps they wanted, and got the all-clear from Osbourne to let them in.
The officers had made earlier contact with Osbourne at McDonald's restaurant in Wychbold where they pretended they were selling him contraband cigarettes.
Priest handed Osbourne cigarette papers to wrap the drugs in. They were bought for £20. The defendant claimed he was visiting the flat when the police arrived and was watching TV when the drug dealing was carried out. He insisted he only asked the officers what they wanted when they came to the door.
Priest was granted bail while a pre-sentence report is prepared. The gang will be sentenced on July 16.
